RESUMEN

«Dentro del ámbito general que define a la disciplina arquitectónica en su servicio y adaptación al hombre, la arquitectura generada para la industria constituye un subcampo muy singular. En él, las máquinas entendidas como entidades objetuales y los procesos mecánicos que discurren en su interior, son los que adquieren, frente al ser humano, una mayor atención y la prioridad absoluta en todos los niveles.

(…) Procede investigar hasta qué extremo los diversos modos de producción han condicionado o no la conformación de la arquitectura industrial en cuanto a sus espacios, modos y materiales, y cómo afectan en el rango temporal en su habitabilidad o su propia permanencia.

(…) Este número trata de contribuir a ello (…) Rescatar los mejores ejemplos de arquitectura fabril y productiva que permanecen en el anonimato y aprender de sus posibilidades de reprogramación con nuevos usos colaborando con el reciente reconocimiento del patrimonio industrial surgido hace dos décadas; analizar las estrategias proyectuales que han ponderado en cada caso los requerimientos de la máquina con el bienestar físico y espiritual del trabajador o la inserción en el contexto; reflexionar sobre el potencial de valor icónico, publicitario, simbólico y artístico de las propias arquitecturas fabriles y su uso desde los puntos de consumo a los diversos estadios de las cadenas de producción; analizar ejemplos tratando de encontrar paralelismos, evoluciones o aproximaciones y parámetros comunes en el ámbito arquitectónico; investigar la especificidad de las arquitecturas industriales controladas por la IA, hipertecnológicas, estratégicas o de seguridad a menudo ocultas y silenciadas; y por último, reivindicar como ámbito cotidiano y específico de la arquitectura los edificios fabriles y su misión operativa social y crítica en el punto de inflexión en el que nos encontramos dentro de una sociedad de la sobreproducción y el despilfarro»

SUMMARY

«Within the general field that defines the discipline of architecture in its service and adaptation to man, the architecture generated for industry constitutes a very unique sub-field. In it, machines understood as objective entities and the mechanical processes taking place inside them are the ones that acquire, compared to human beings, greater attention and absolute priority on all levels

(…) It is necessary to investigate to what extent the different modes of production have or have not influenced the shaping of industrial architecture in terms of its spaces, modes and materials, and how they affect its habitability or its very permanence over time.

(…)It aims to recover the best examples of factory and productive architecture that remain anonymous and learn from their possibilities of reprogramming with new uses, collaborating with the recent recognition of the industrial heritage that emerged two decades ago; to analyse the design strategies that in each case have weighed up the requirements of the machine with the physical and spiritual well-being of the worker or their insertion into the context; to reflect on the potential iconic, advertising, symbolic and artistic value of the factory architectures themselves and their use from the points of consumption to the different stages of the production chains; to analyse examples, trying to find parallels, evolutions or common approaches and parameters in the architectural field; to investigate the specificity of industrial architectures controlled by AI, hyper-technological, strategic or security architectures that are often hidden and silenced; and, finally, to reclaim factory buildings and their social and critical operational mission as an everyday and specific sphere of architecture at the turning point at which we find ourselves in a society of overproduction and waste. «
